Tomato Field Day slated for June 26 in Dallas
Participants can learn about irrigation systems and fertilization regimens
The Texas A&M AgriLife Research and Extension Center at Dallas and East Texas A&M University will host a Tomato Field Day on June 26 in Dallas.

The free, in-person event will begin with registration and sign-in at 8:30 a.m. and the program will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the center’s Water Education Building, 17360 Coit Road. Lunch is included but is limited to 50 people.

About the field day
The event is open to existing and new growers interested in learning about tomatoes, irrigation systems and various fertilization regimens.
Speakers and topics include:
- Why irrigation and fertilization are important — Desire Djidonou, Ph.D., assistant professor in urban and sustainable agriculture, East Texas A&M University, Commerce.
- Irrigation methods and irrigation water requirements — Guy Fipps, Ph.D., PE, AgriLife Extension statewide irrigation specialist and professor, Texas A&M Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering, Bryan-College Station.
- All about tomatoes: A comprehensive presentation covering the history of tomatoes, pruning and suckering, pest and disease management, and cultural practices — Masabni.
A tour of the center’s field trial, showing the four fertilizer and three irrigation methods, will also be included.
