The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service offices in Lubbock and Amarillo will hold an Applied Turfgrass Management Seminar on April 22 and April 24, respectively.

Each one-day program will allow attendees to gain insights and practical solutions for superior turfgrass management. 

The cost, which includes lunch, is $65 per person and online registration is available at https://tx.ag/TurfGrassLubbock and https://tx.ag/TurfGrassAmarillo. Late registration for the Amarillo seminar will be available at the door and is $80 per person. Each seminar will be from 8:15 a.m. to 4 p.m. 

The seminars will be held at the Texas A&M AgriLife Research and Extension Center at Lubbock, 1102 E. Drew St., and the Texas A&M AgriLife Research and Extension Center at Amarillo, 6500 Amarillo Blvd. West.

Both seminars will offer Texas Department of Agriculture continuing education units. Lubbock will offer two general and two integrated pest management continuing education units, CEUs. Amarillo will offer three general and two integrated pest management CEUs. 

Speakers and topics

The speakers and topics will be the same at both locations, with one exception at Lubbock. 

  • Turfgrass management and water conservation, Joey Young, Ph.D., associate professor of turfgrass sciences, Texas Tech University, Lubbock.
  • Fertilizer best management practices, Pablo Agustin Boeri, Ph.D., AgriLife Extension turfgrass specialist and assistant professor, Department of Soil and Crop Sciences, Dallas. 
  • Turfgrass disease and pest management, Young.
  • Integrated weed management, Boeri.
  • Lubbock only: Alternative groundcovers for nonturfgrass areas, Christina Reid, AgriLife Extension horticulturist for Lubbock County.
