Session highlights gardening and dietary practices to support healthy habits, Type 2 diabetes prevention
The Prairie View A&M University Cooperative Extension Program and Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will host The Wellness Garden: Medicinal Plants for a Healthy Lifestyle, an online workshop, from 9-11 a.m. Aug. 26.

To attend, participants should register online at: tx.ag/WellnessGarden. The free virtual workshop will explore how traditional herbs and fiber-rich plants can be incorporated into everyday diets to support healthy lifestyles.

The workshop will focus on growing, harvesting and safely using health-promoting plants and vegetables, including leafy greens, garlic, turmeric, ginger, bitter gourd and fenugreek. Participants will learn how to incorporate these foods into simple recipes and teas.
The session also will discuss strategies for balancing vegetable intake with protein sources such as beans, eggs and chicken to support steady blood sugar levels, healthy weight management and overall wellness.
