Wings in the Garden event Sept. 26 in Bryan
Free, family-friendly event includes interactive displays, crafts and a scavenger hunt
Wings in the Garden is a free, family-friendly celebration of pollinators hosted by the Texas Master Gardeners in Brazos County Sept. 26, at the Demonstration Idea Garden, 2619 W. Texas Highway 21, Bryan.
The event will be held from 9-11:30 a.m. and is free and open to the public.
The Texas Master Gardener program is an educational volunteer program conducted by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service.
About the event
Families can visit a crafting station to make seed balls and take part in a pollinator scavenger hunt. Children are invited to buzz through the garden and arrive dressed in their favorite pollinator costume.
The program will include:
- Interactive displays will feature the Brazos Valley Chapter of the Texas Master Naturalists.
- An observation beehive presented by Barbara Smith a Master Beekeeper candidate.
- A pollinator activity table with Antoinette Morris, Prairie View A&M University Extension 4-H and youth development agent for Brazos County.
- Information about trees as habitat for pollinators, and a tour of the water harvesting system with members of the Brazos County chapter of Texas Master Gardeners.
- A pollinator activity table with Ashleigh Sugg, AgriLife Extension 4-H youth development agent, and Antoinette Morris, Prairie View A&M University Cooperative Extension Program 4-H youth development agent, both in Brazos County.
