Sept. 15 webinar to focus on control of shoreline plants, woody vegetation
AgriLife Extension program to cover techniques, management considerations for riparian areas
The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will present the webinar “Shoreline Plant and Woody Vegetation Management” on Sept. 15 from 6-7:30 p.m.
The cost is $35, and advanced registration is required at tx.ag/ShorelineManagement. The webinar offers one integrated pest management continuing education unit for pesticide applicators in Texas who attend the online session live. All registrants will receive the recording link that is valid for one month.
About the webinar
The featured speaker will be Brittany Chesser, Ph.D., AgriLife Extension aquatic vegetation management specialist and assistant professor in the Texas A&M Department of Rangeland, Wildlife and Fisheries Management, Bryan-College Station. Chesser also serves as lead diagnostic scientist at the Texas A&M AgriLife Aquatic Diagnostics Laboratory.
Management of shoreline woody-stemmed aquatic vegetation species requires special considerations and timing compared to submerged and floating plant species. Chesser will explore unique application and treatment methods during her presentation.
Attendees will learn:
- The use of surfactants to aid in herbicide treatment.
- Application timing.
- Management techniques such as girdling and stump cutting.
A 30-minute Q&A session will conclude the webinar.
