SAN ANTONIO — Veterans and active duty military, small acreage farmers and ranchers, and beginning producers are encouraged to attend a free agriculture business workshop June 6, according to Erin Pilosi-Kimbrough, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service program coordinator for Texas Agrability in College Station.
The event will be from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. at Texas A&M University-San Antonio, One University Way, San Antonio. Attendees should register at http://txagrability.tamu.edu/.
Texas AgrAbility, which is part of a nationwide network of programs funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture, aims to inform, educate and assist individuals with disabilities to stay actively engaged in agriculture.
“People interested in farming and ranching should attend to learn about everything from start-up to finding financial funding,” Pilosi-Kimbrough said.
The morning sessions will include presentations on business opportunities, resource networking, information about Texas Agrability and a talk by a military veteran who now is an agricultural producer.
Lunch will be provided by Chef Cooperatives members Kathy Pullin, pit master at Pullin Premium BBQ, and Stephen Paprocki, chef and owner of Texas Black Gold Garlic.
The afternoon sessions will focus on funding with a panel discussion, a presentation on business planning and a networking session.
Partners of the event with AgriLife Extension include the USDA’s Risk Management Agency, Natural Resources Conservation Service, and Farm Service Agency.
