The announcement was made by Runnels County Judge Barry Hilliard and Marty Gibbs, AgriLife Extension district administrator at San Angelo.

“We’re very pleased to have Garrett join us here in AgriLife Extension’s West Central district,” Gibbs said. “He has a rich and varied background not only as a graduate teaching assistant but also through several years of livestock-related work that included showmanship clinics, youth livestock project work and livestock contest organization.

“The post Garrett is accepting is my former position, so I know what this particular job entails and knowing that, I have every confidence that this young man is equal to the task.”

Though Cline’s official start date with the agency is June 1, Gibbs said, he initially will complete AgriLife Extension’s “First Step” orientation training in Llano County prior to assuming his permanent Runnels County post on June 30.

Cline will earn a master’s degree this month from Mississippi State University. He previously graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in animal science with a production option from Texas A&M University, College Station.

While attending Mississippi State, he served as a graduate assistant responsible for course and laboratory instruction, assisting with Extension beef activities, beef farm management and daily functions of the university’s animal and dairy science department.

While earning his bachelor’s degree, he worked at Texas A&M’s Rosenthal Meat Science and Technology Center as a student worker.

His other job experience includes ranch work and agriculture-related customer service and sales.

According to his resume, he was active in FFA and 4-H. His accolades at Texas A&M include being named to the dean’s honor roll and earning the distinguished student award.
