LUBBOCK – Will Keeling began Aug. 3 as the new Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service risk management specialist at Lubbock.
Keeling, who is headquartered at the Texas A&M AgriLife Research and Extension Center, will provide support and education for farmers and ranchers in AgriLife Extension’s 20-county South Plains district. He will focus on analyzing the financial performance and risk of agricultural decisions through the agency’s FARM Assistance program.
Financial and Risk Management, or FARM Assistance, is part of AgriLife Extension’s risk management education program. It is designed to provide sound statistically based strategic financial analysis to those who may not have ready access to such information. The program offers a long-term projection of an operation’s financial performance and feasibility the producer can use to compare alternative strategic business plans.
Keeling earned master’s and bachelor’s degrees in agricultural and applied economics from Texas Tech University at Lubbock.
He previously worked for Rabo AgriFinance in Amarillo as a credit analyst and as a graduate research assistant with Texas A&M AgriLife Research at the Lubbock center.
Keeling fills the position formerly held by Jay Yates who resigned to enter the private sector.
