AgriLife Extension adds three new staff to South Plains District

LUBBOCK – The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service has added three new staff members to their South Plains District ranks.
The three are Katie Mangold, Katelyn Kowles and Tyler Mays.
Mangold is the new AgriLife Extension assistant for family and consumer sciences and 4-H for Swisher County. She is a recent graduate of Tarleton State University where she earned a bachelor’s degree in family and consumer sciences. She has served internships with AgriLife Extension in
Erath and Kendall counties and was an activities assistant for the Bandera County Boys and Girls Club.
Kowles has assumed the AgriLife Extension integrated pest management post for Lubbock and Crosby counties. She earned bachelor’s and doctorate degrees from the University of Kentucky at Lexington, and a master’s from Eastern Illinois University at Charleston She previously served as a graduate research assistant in the Invertebrate Ecology Lab at the University of Kentucky’s department of entomology.
Mays is the AgriLife Extension agent for integrated pest management for Gaines, Terry and Yoakum counties. He earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Texas A&M University, Kingsville. He was previously a graduate research assistant at Kingsville where he assisted with variety trials, irrigation, data collection and statistical analysis.
“We are elated to have these three young people join our district,” said Michael Clawson, AgriLife Extension administrator at Lubbock. “They all are knowledgeable in their respective fields of expertise, and I see a smooth working transition ahead in each instance within the counties they serve.”
