Gill named interim head of Texas A&M agricultural leadership, education and communications

COLLEGE STATION — Dr. Clare Gill has been named interim head of the agricultural leadership, education and communications department at Texas A&M University, effective Aug. 1.
Gill is a professor of animal genomics in the Texas A&M animal science department, which she joined in 1999.
“I am pleased to bring Dr. Gill’s expertise and experience to the department. The combination of her award winning research and university wide roles make her an excellent fit,” said Dr. Mark Hussey, vice chancellor and dean of agriculture and life sciences at Texas A&M, College Station.
She has served as faculty ombuds officer and as associate vice president for diversity at Texas A&M. She also was named a faculty fellow in the Division of Research and was the recipient of the 2014 Texas A&M College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Dean’s Outstanding Achievement Award for Excellence in Research. As a member of the McGregor Bovine Genomics Team, she received the Vice Chancellor’s Award in Excellence for Research in 2009.
Gill earned a bachelor’s degree in biotechnology from Flinders University of South Australia and a doctoral degree in molecular genetics from the University of Adelaide in Australia.
