OVERTON – Ronald Barlow was named the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service agriculture and natural resources agent for Sabine County, effective Dec. 1.
The announcement was made by Sabine County Judge Daryl Melton, the Sabine County Commissioners Court and Shelia Lewis, AgriLife Extension district administrator, Overton.
“I am pleased to have Mr. Barlow join our AgriLife Extension faculty in Sabine County,” Lewis said. “He will be a great asset to the county and AgriLife Extension. I feel certain he will do an excellent job because of his enthusiasm for providing quality educational programs and to work with the public.”
Barlow earned a bachelor of science degree in agricultural education from Texas A&M University, College Station, and his master’s of education in secondary education from Stephen F. Austin State University, Nacogdoches.
He taught agricultural science at West Sabine, Joaquin, Latexo and Dayton high schools before serving as a high school principal at West Sabine and Joaquin.
Lewis said Barlow’s experience in the livestock and poultry industries, pipeline and oilfield construction and active community service would also be an asset for Sabine County residents through AgriLife Extension programs and activities.
“I am excited to have the opportunity to work with the youth and residents of Sabine County in this capacity, and look forward to working with the 4-H programs, the agricultural and agribusiness sectors of the community as well as the general public,” Barlow said.
