Myra Marsh receives AgriLife Extension Superior Service Award

BRYAN – Myra Marsh, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service administrative associate III at San Angelo, has been awarded the Superior Service Award in the office support category-state and district level.
Superior Service Awards recognize AgriLife Extension faculty and staff members who provide outstanding performance in AgriLife Extension education or other outstanding service to the organization and to Texans.
The award was presented Jan. 9 during the Texas A&M AgriLife awards ceremony in Bryan.
Marsh’s nomination credits her for being an “effective, dedicated, detail-oriented and dependable employee who provides exemplary customer service to internal and external clientele and partners.”
The nomination further states Marsh takes to heart AgriLife Extension’s mission of “improving the lives of people, businesses and communities across Texas and beyond through high-quality, relevant education.”
Marsh began her AgriLife Extension career Oct. 2, 1989. She provides professional support for the AgriLife Extension communications specialist – distributing upwards of 200 news items annually, in addition to supporting the information technology specialist, and the state sheep and goat specialist and his assistant.
Marsh has excelled in her role with the Texas Sheep and Goat Validation Program, according to the nomination. She handles the day-to-day operation of the 22,000-head youth livestock show validation program that involves the entire state.
She also has been an integral part of the tremendous success of many major programming efforts, in particular the Texas Sheep and Goat Expo. The expo is an educational event offering presentations, demonstrations and hands-on activities designed to meet the needs of a diverse sheep and goat industry.
Marsh has contributed much to the success of this program by maintaining communication with exhibitors, sponsors and facility managers. She secures caterers, attends to their needs, secures door prizes, helps with registration and acts as the go-to person for a variety of needs.
“Aside from her many conventional duties, perhaps more important is Myra’s steadying influence at the center and across our 23-county district,” said Steve Byrns, AgriLife Extension communications specialist at San Angelo. “She has an inexhaustible knowledge of the AgriLife agencies here, which is invaluable.
“While much of what Myra does, often behind the scenes, is intangible in terms of agency documentation, they are the very attributes that set AgriLife Extension apart, making it a very personal agency — one that’s all about ‘people helping people,’a credo Myra more than embodies.”
