COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service presented its Superior Service – Office Support award to Erin Wade, office manager in Parker County.

The Superior Service awards are the highest award presented by the agency, and recipients were honored Jan. 8 during a noon luncheon.

“Erin Wade has been a stable presence in the Parker County AgriLife Extension office for over 25 years,” said Kathy Smith, AgriLife Extension family and community health agent, Parker County, in her nomination. “She is a true professional in her role as office manager and has made it her personal mission to ensure that the AgriLife Extension staff has the necessary information, materials and support to carry out their roles.”

Wade is very dependable and takes on any tasks and responsibilities cooperatively and efficiently, the nomination stated, citing her for her positive in-person interactions with clients and volunteers as well as her friendly and professional demeanor via telephone or email.

Hired as the 4-H secretary on Nov. 6, 1992, she was promoted to office manager in 2006. Wade has a strong understanding of the office and keeps it organized and in order. Over the years she has proved to be dependable, a team player and loyal to the mission and vision of AgriLife Extension in improving the lives of people and providing education.

“Erin is a vital part of the successful programming and work in Parker County,” Smith said. “Her main responsibility is to work with the county agents for agriculture and natural resource and family and community health. She also gives guidance to the 4-H administrative assistant and provides help and assistance to the program assistants.”

Wade continues to learn and keep up on ways to better her ability to serve AgriLife Extension, the nomination stated. She willingly takes on new tasks and responsibilities and learns new technology and computer programs. She is often relied upon for technical support by office staff and volunteers for the computer, websites and office equipment.

Additionally, Wade helps the Leadership Advisory Board, assisting the agents in working with its chairman and members. She assists the secretary with the minutes and gives guidance to the treasurer to help maintain the financial books.

“Erin exemplified the qualities of an outstanding office manager,” Smith said. “Her No. 1 priority is doing what it takes to make AgriLife Extension and Parker County as good as it can be.”
