Painter new AgriLife Extension agent for Shackleford County

Starting Nov. 11, Kloey Cargill Painter will be the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service agriculture and natural resources agent for Shackleford County. 

“We are excited to have Kloey as the Shackelford County agent,” said Marty Gibbs, District 7 AgriLife Extension administrator, San Angelo. “Her experiences in Brewster, Jeff Davis and Throckmorton counties will be invaluable as she transitions to Shackelford County.”

Painter previously served as the AgriLife Extension agriculture and natural resources agent for that tri-county area in District 6 for four years. 

“In my position as an agent, I serve as an agricultural advocate for and to the community, as well as being an educator for the youth and adults in the county,” said Painter. “I utilize multiple resources and engage specialists to make sure my producers, landowners and community members are constantly updated with the most timely and resourceful information. I hold meetings regularly with my producers, so I can better understand their needs and accomplish set goals on behalf of our county.”

While serving her prior counties, Painter provided leadership to 4-H and assisted with result demonstrations, which included the Texas Quail Index, mesquite trials, community service and outreach activities, and family and consumer science projects. She was heavily involved in coaching livestock judging, Horse Quiz Bowl, Beef Skillathon, trap shooting and Share the Fun events. She also served as the district horse show chairman.

“I look forward to bringing everything I’ve learned and my experiences as an agent to my new role in Shackelford County,” Painter said.

Painter earned her bachelor’s degree in agricultural science from Texas Tech University. She previously worked for the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo and the National Reining Horse Association.
