The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will present a two-session online program focused on assisting female landowners Feb. 23 and Feb. 25.

Both sessions are scheduled from 6-8 p.m. Cost is $15. Registration is required.

The program is designed to empower female landowners and will cover a wide range of topics from land use and maintenance to water and mineral rights, land leasing and resources available for landowners. 

In Session 1, Tiffany Dowell-Lashmet, AgriLife Extension agricultural law specialist, Amarillo, will cover:

  • Ag Valuations and Tax Exemptions.
  • Basics of Land Leasing.
  • Water and Mineral Rights.

The session will end with a question-and-answer session.

In Session 2, Randi Whitis, U.S. Department of Agriculture Farm Service Agency county executive director, Paris, will cover:

  • USDA Farm Service Agency and Natural Resources Conservation Service.
  • State Agency Resources Available to Landowners.
  • Land Use and Stocking Rates.
  • Importance of a Pesticide Applicators License.
  • Herbicide Calculations and Sprayer Calibration.

“The demographics of landownership in Texas are changing, and we are excited to be able to help new landowners be great stewards of their properties’ natural resources,” said Jessica Rymel, AgriLife Extension agent, Cass County.
