Baltensperger receives Borlaug Lifetime Achievement Award from TPPA

BRYAN – Dr. David Baltensperger, head of the department of soil and crop sciences at Texas A&M University in College Station, has received the Norman Borlaug Lifetime Achievement Award from the Texas Plant Protection Association.
Baltensperger received the award for contributions to the association and to Texas agriculture.
The award was given at the association’s annual conference held recently at the Brazos Center in Bryan
Dr. Ronnie Schnell, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service cropping systems specialist, College Station, received the academic/agency award, while Lee Hutchins of Sinton received the association’s consultant award.
Graduate student awards were presented to Texas A&M students Kevin Cox and Limeng Xie, both from College Station.
Poster contest winners were Luke Pruter, first place, graduate research assistant, entomology department, Texas A&M, Corpus Christi; Sadie Church, second place, graduate research assistant, soil and crop sciences department, Texas A&M, College Station; Perla Duberney, third place, graduate student, Texas A&M University-Kingsville Citrus Center, Weslaco.
In the pest identification contest, consultants Stephen Biles of Port Lavaca took first place, followed by Gary Kennedy of College Station and Webb Wallace of Harlingen.
