AgriLife Extension names veteran agent to Taylor County post

ABILENE – The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service has named Cody Hill the agency’s new agriculture and natural resources agent for Taylor County effective Aug. 1.

The joint announcement was made by Taylor County Judge Downing Bolls and Marty Gibbs, AgriLife Extension district administrator at San Angelo.

Gibbs said Hill will oversee all AgriLife Extension agriculture and natural resources endeavors in the county.

“We are fortunate to have Cody, a seasoned county agent with a proven track record, join us here in the 23-county West Central District,” Gibbs said. “With almost a quarter-century experience within our agency, Cody will be able to hit the ground running. Taylor County boasts the largest population within our district. The population there is progressive and diverse, which in many ways mirrors its agriculture.

“To be successful, county agents in Taylor County must be able to balance both the rural and urban populace, and I have no doubt Cody will do that seamlessly.”

Hill earned a master’s degree in education and leadership from Texas Tech University at Lubbock and a bachelor’s degree in animal science from Angelo State University.

He transfers from Borden County where he has served as the agriculture and natural resources agent since 2007. He began his AgriLife Extension career in 1995 in Gaines County as an assistant agriculture program leader and 4-H county coordinator. After a year there, he transferred to Parmer County as the county coordinator and agriculture program leader, remaining there until assuming the Borden County post.

Prior to joining AgriLife Extension, Hill was a territory business manager for Vigortone Livestock Mineral in San Saba.
