$13,000 in scholarships presented at Waco Blacklands Income Growth conference
WACO — Scholarships were awarded to area Blacklands youth in January during the Blackland Income Growth Conference at the Waco Convention Center.
The annual conference, sponsored by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and the Waco Chamber of Commerce, provides agricultural education to producers in the Blacklands region.
Dr. Dan Hale, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service meats specialist in College Station, was the keynote luncheon speaker. Dr. Laura Huebinger, AgriLife Extension program specialist for 4-H Youth and Development, introduced each of the scholarship winners.
Receiving scholarships were:
Morgan Bradshaw of Grayson County, $1,500 Scott Felton Blackland Income Growth Scholarship and Olivia Pankonien of McLennan County, $1,500 Ronald C. Woolley Blackland Income Growth Scholarship.
Recipients of $1,000 scholarships were:
- Kolby Dague and Braylee Mackie of Bell County;
- Brittnee Hamilton of Falls County;
- Bailey McCollum of Grayson County;
- Claire Crow and Grace Lauderdale of McLennan County;
- Scott Widner of Milam County;
- Katie Whitfield of Tarrant County;
- Heather Baker and Payton Holcomb of Williamson County.
