‘On the Line with AgriLife’ webinar launches
April 21 will feature talk on sheep, goat parasites
The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in District 6, serving the counties of West Texas, will present its first “On the Line with AgriLife” webinar on April 21 from 8:30 a.m. to about 9 a.m. The topic of the initial webinar will be sheep and goat parasites.
Additional webinars will be held the third Tuesday of each month and feature various AgriLife Extension agents and specialists discussing topics important to West Texas farmers, ranchers and producers.
The webinars are free and will be held on the Zoom meeting platform. Attendees may join online or by calling 346-248-7799 and entering meeting ID 195 813 396.
“We wanted more ways to connect West Texas farmers and ranchers with AgriLife Extension,” said Cody Trimble, AgriLife Extension agent, Glasscock County. “The On the Line with AgriLife program will give a monthly update on relevant information and provide an opportunity for producers to ask agents and specialists questions.”
Each month will feature a brief presentation from a specialist or agent, followed by a question and answer period. Trimble said these will be about 30 minutes in length.
The initial webinar speaker will be Reid Redden, Ph.D., AgriLife Extension sheep and goat specialist and Texas A&M AgriLife Research and Extension Center interim director, San Angelo.
“With recent rains, sheep and goat raisers are likely to experience parasite problems in the coming months,” said Redden. “I will be discussing the different deworming products, how to best use them, what animals to treat and long-term treatment plans.”
AgriLife Extension agents Trimble; Emily Grant, Vale Verde County; Tanner Hash, Martin County; Payton Keifer, Pecos County; Dakota Kempken, Glasscock County; Sami Lindsey, Crane County; Jessica McCrory, Terrell County; and Matlin Sain, Presidio County, organized the series. These agents also produce a joint newsletter for their stakeholders and are organizing a West Texas Farmers and Ranchers Convention for July.
Additional information on the On the Line with AgriLife series may be found on the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, Far West Texas District 6 Facebook page. A schedule of specific topics for each date is will also be available online.
