The cotton plucked from this hull is being analyzed in the lab of Dr. Keerti Rathore, Texas AgriLife Research plant biotechnologist. Rathore has engineered cotton to have ultra-low levels of gossypol, rendering it edible by humans. The high-protein seed ultimately may help feed malnourished people worldwide.
