Griffin, of Cedar Lane, began March 23 and will spend the first month in the First Step training program in Hemphill County, Dukes said.

“Amy brings a tremendous amount of enthusiasm to Ochiltree County,” he said. “I am excited to see her begin working with youth and adults to build a strong, well-rounded AgriLife Extension program there.”

Griffin earned her bachelor’s degree in family and consumer sciences from Sam Houston State University.

She previously worked for the City of Huntsville Main Street Program as an intern and at the Huntsville Family YMCA, which is where she said she made the decision to become an AgriLife Extension agent.

“Growing up, I didn’t really know my county agent, but while I was working at the YMCA, we had the local FCS agent come out and talk and teach some programs,” Griffin said. “I knew then that is what I wanted to do, so I changed my major.”

She said she wants to be out in public, teaching youth and adults, and providing them well-rounded programs.

“I’m especially excited to try to build the adult education program in Ochiltree County,” Griffin said.
