“Alesha has a heart for helping people, and we are excited to have her and her unique abilities to communicate, network and motivate youth and adult audiences,” said Brandon Dukes, AgriLife Extension district administrator in Amarillo.

Ward started on May 1 and will spend her first month in Gray County in AgriLife Extension’s First Step training program and then will begin in Hutchinson County on June 1, Dukes said.

Ward, a native of Marshall, earned her bachelor’s degree from Texas Tech University and her master’s degree from LeTourneau University in Longview, both in psychology, with a minor in Spanish.

“I am passionate about helping youth and adults,” she said. “I went into psychology because I wanted to make a difference in people’s lives, and I believe I can do that as an AgriLife Extension agent.”

Ward said her previous work in Cusco, Peru working with at-risk youth in an after-school program also will be an asset when it comes to working closely with other team members and mentors of youth in Hutchinson County.
