Bandera Water Workshop dates set

BANDERA – The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will partner with the Bandera County River Authority and Groundwater District to present the five-part 2015 Bandera Water Workshops series over the coming months.
Sponsors of the programs include Bandera Electric Cooperative Inc., the Ranchers and Landowners Association of Texas and Hill Country Alliance.

All but the first workshop will offer Texas Department of Agriculture continuing education units.
Workshop specifics are as follows:
– Aquaponic Potential, 10 a.m.-3:15 p.m., May 9, at the Bandera County River Authority and Groundwater District, office and gardens, 440 Farm-to-Market Road 3240, Bandera. Registration is $15 to cover the meal. Topics and speakers will include: Aquaponics 101, and System Build Workshop with Patti Taylor and Josh Goode, both with the San Antonio Aquaponic and Transfarming Group.
– Residential H2O Conservation, 6-8 p.m., May 12, Mansfield Park Recreation Center, 2886 State Highway 16 N, Bandera. Registration is $15 to cover the meal. One and a half general continuing education units offered. Topics and speakers will include: Landscape Irrigation and Greywater use, Dr. Calvin Finch, Urban Water Program director for the Texas A&M Institute of Renewable Natural Resources, San Antonio; Domestic Conservation Techniques with the Bandera County River Authority and Groundwater District; and Native Plant Selection and Raingardens with Native American Seed.
– Agricultural H2O Conservation, 10 a.m.-3 p.m., June 3, Mansfield Park Recreation Center. Registration is $15 to cover the meal. Three hours – two general and one integrated pest management – continuing education units to be offered. The topic and speaker will be: Healthy Streams Program with AgriLife Extension and Riparian Health Field Visit with Sky Lewey, public education associate with the Nueces River Authority.
– Abandoned Well Education and Plugging, 6-7:30 p.m., Aug. 11, Bandera County River Authority and Groundwater District office. No charge. One hour of laws and regulations continuing education units to be offered. Topics to be offered by the district include Abandoned Well Education, and Abandoned Well Plugging Video.
– Rainwater Potential, 8 a.m.-noon, Aug. 22, Bandera County River Authority and Groundwater District office. Cost is $80 per person. One and a half hours of general continuing education units to be offered. Topics will include Rainwater Harvesting 101 and Rainwater Catchment System Build with the Rainwater School.
