MASON – The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service has named Sheree Hardin as the new family and consumer sciences agent for the dual-county Mason/Menard position effective Oct. 1.

Marty Gibbs, AgriLife Extension administrator at San Angelo, said Hardin will complete the agency’s First Step orientation program in McCulloch and Llano counties prior to assuming her permanent post on Nov. 2.

“We are pleased to have Sheree join us here in AgriLife Extension’s West Central District,” Gibbs said. “She was reared in Robert Lee, so she knows our part of the state and is very familiar with our agency. She also has a strong background in youth education, which should serve her well when working with both her clientele and the youth component in this dual-county appointment.”

Hardin earned a bachelor’s degree in health education with a minor in biology from Texas A&M University.

She previously held positions with the Texarkana Independent School District, Texas Leadership Charter Academy at San Angelo, the Texas Youth Commission at the Ron Jackson Correctional Facility in Brownwood and J.W. Hamilton State School in Bryan, Snook Independent School District and Bryan Independent School District.

Her community involvement activities include working with summer and school lunch programs for limited resources families, Senior Citizen Homebound programs, vacation bible school, coaching primary grade level basketball, Little Dribblers and Little League Softball, and the Feeding the Homeless Initiative.  She also served as a United Way committee member and school librarian volunteer.
