AgriLife Extension offering four TDA continuing education courses in Austin
AUSTIN – The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in Travis County will present four opportunities in February for individuals to receive Texas Department of Agriculture continuing education units.
Two courses will be held Feb. 10 and two Feb. 29, all at the Travis County East Service Center, 6011 Blue Bluff Road in Austin.
“These courses are a great opportunity for attendees to hear from some great speakers and learn new things while getting their continuing education units,” said Julie Zimmerman, AgriLife Extension agriculture and natural resources agent, Travis County.
Zimmerman said the courses are very popular and fill quickly so an RSVP is required. To RSVP for any or all of the courses, attendees should email Sue Carrasco at [email protected].
“No cash will be accepted,” Zimmerman said. “Attendees must pay by check or money order.” Checks should be made payable to Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service.
On Feb. 10 course, the first, Class A, will be from 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. and offer six continuing education units – three general, two integrated pest management and one laws and regulations.
The cost for this course is $60 and includes light breakfast, lunch, snacks and beverages.
Presenters and topics will be:
— Dr. Bob Lyons, AgriLife Extension range specialist, Uvalde; Brush and Weed Control, Label Reading.
— Jacob Hetzel and Stefan Hunt, Texas Wildlife Services wildlife biologists, San Antonio and Austin, respectively; Feral Hog and Coyote Management.
— Dr. Sonja Swiger, AgriLife Extension livestock and veterinary entomologist, Stephenville; External Parasites of Cattle.
— Wizzie Brown, AgriLife Extension program specialist – integrated pest management, Travis County; Pest Control in Storage Areas.
The second program, Class B, will be from 5:30-7:45 p.m. Feb. 10 and will offer one general and one laws and regulations continuing education units.
This course will be delivered via video. The cost is $15 and includes snacks and beverages but no dinner.
Attendees are required to RSVP for classes A and B by no later than 3 p.m. Feb. 8.
On Feb. 29, the first, Class C, will be held from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. and will offer two general, three integrated pest management and one laws and regulations units.
Presenters and topics will be:
— Dr. Todd Sink, AgriLife Extension wildlife and fisheries specialist, College Station, Livestock Tank and Pond Management.
— Jody Stelzig, Texas Department of Agriculture inspector, Austin; Laws and Regulations.
— Daphne Richards, AgriLife Extension agent – horticulture, Travis County; Preventing Pests through Plant Selection.
The cost is $60 and includes light breakfast, lunch, snacks and beverages.
The second course, Class D, will be from 4:30-6:45 p.m. and will offer two integrated pest management continuing education units.
This course will be delivered via video. The cost is $15 and includes snacks and beverages but not dinner.
