LITTLEFIELD –The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service has named Katie Mangold as the new AgriLife Extension family and consumer sciences agent for Lamb County effective Jan. 3.
The announcement was made by Lamb County Judge Mike DeLoach and Michael Clawson, AgriLife Extension administrator for the South Plains District headquartered in Lubbock.
“Katie is no stranger to our region or district as she is transferring from Swisher County, where she has been the AgriLife Extension assistant for family and consumer sciences and 4-H,” Clawson said. “This is a wonderful step for her and our agency. She is very personable and well organized. If her track record in Swisher County is any indication, she’ll be ready to hit the ground running in Lamb County.”
Mangold earned a bachelor’s degree in family and consumer sciences from Tarleton State University in Stephenville. She completed AgriLife Extension internships in Kendall and Erath counties before being named to her Swisher County post.
Mangold coordinated and implemented a number of major county educational programs while in Swisher County. Among the more notable were AgriLife Extension’s Learn, Grow, Eat and Go; Progressive Agricultural Ag Safety Day; Community Intern Program; Child Passenger Safety; Towards No Tobacco; Fathers Reading Every Day and Better Living for Texans. She also served as an adviser for a variety of AgriLife Extension planning groups.
Mangold holds memberships in the national and Texas associations of the Family and Consumer Sciences Association and the Extension 4-H Agents Association.
Mangold fills the position formerly held by Mandi Seaton, who transferred to San Angelo Oct. 1 when she was named the AgriLife Extension regional program leader for family and consumer sciences for the agency’s West Central Region.
