Water University presented with Innovative Water Supply Award for education

DALLAS — Water University, an educational outreach program of the Texas A&M AgriLife Research and Extension Center of Dallas, recently received the Texas Water Development Board’s Innovative Water Supply Award for education.

The award was presented Jan. 24 at a conference held at the AT&T Executive Education and Conference Center in Austin.

According to the board, three recipients “that exemplify innovative thinking in the areas of conservation, education and technology” are selected each year for the award.

“We hustle all year to get the word out about the importance of protecting our water resources and we’re honored by this show of support from the state,” said Clint Wolfe, Texas A&M AgriLife Research program manager for Water University.

Wolfe said Water University reaches millions of Texans annually with information on practices and tools for protecting water resources.

“Water University is an educational outreach program focusing on water conservation and use efficiency,” he said. “It provides a comprehensive offering of scientifically based solutions for water conservation and resource management.”

Wolfe said he and his team of water resource professionals conduct research and outreach programming on water quality, water use efficiency and watershed planning. He also noted Water University has built strong working relationships and partnerships with local governments, state and federal agencies, corporations and other entities to develop programs to address water quantity and quality issues.

“The quality of projects and number of entrants to the Innovative Water Supply Awards are a testament to the forward-thinking, results-driven activities by municipalities and entities throughout the state,” said TWDB member Kathleen Jackson.
