Lowe hired as AgriLife Extension multi-county health agent

LUBBOCK – Courtney Lowe began her new job Dec. 3 as a Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service multi-county health agent, according to Michael Clawson, AgriLife Extension district administrator in Lubbock.
Lowe’s newly created position serves Castro, Hale and Lamb counties, Clawson said.
She will office in Lamb County and be responsible solely for health-related programs in all three counties, coordinating educational events with the AgriLife Extension family and community health agents in each county.
Dr. Angela Burkham, AgriLife Extension state program leader for family and community health and regional program leader in the Amarillo and Lubbock districts, said the position is designed to deliver programs that will help educate people in the area of health and encourage behavior changes in order to improve their quality of life and extend their life expectancy.
“Our goal for this new position was to hire key people to focus on engaging communities with health and wellness programming,” she said. “We are excited about Courtney and the background she brings with her.”
A native of Littlefield, Lowe earned her bachelor’s in nutritional sciences and dietetics and master’s in nutritional sciences from Texas Tech University. She has worked for the past three years as a clinical dietitian at Covenant Health and Covenant LifeStyle Center in Lubbock.
“I am excited to start working in AgriLife Extension serving Castro, Hale and Lamb counties,” Lowe said. “I am passionate about nutrition education. I believe disease prevention is important and being properly educated is key in the prevention of disease.
“Preventing disease or learning to manage disease will help our clientele to live longer, healthier lives. As the health agent, I will strive to collaborate with community members to provide educational programs for these communities.”
