Kendra Callahan to join AgriLife Extension Swisher County

LUBBOCK– Kendra Callahan will join Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service on April 15 as assistant agent for family and community health in Swisher County.
Callahan earned her bachelor’s of science in nutrition – health and wellness, from Texas Tech University. Her experience includes teaching nutrition education to elementary school children and serving as an undergraduate teaching assistant at a human anatomy and physiology lab.
“Kendra’s interests and background in human nutrition, youth development and agriculture make her an ideal candidate for the assistant agent position in Swisher County,” said Michael Clawson, District 2 extension administrator.
Clawson said Callahan has a strong desire to educate consumers on the link between agriculture and their health.
“Her passion in this area fits perfectly with AgriLife’s goal to assist Texans to make informed, research-based decisions in regards to agriculture and health,” he said. “Even though this is a training position, I am extremely excited about Kendra’s potential to elevate our Extension programming in Swisher County, as well in District 2.”
“I chose to work for AgriLife for the opportunity to serve the community with research-based education,” Callahan said. “It fuels my passion for relating the ag and health industries to one another to create a more informed, truth-driven and healthy community.
“I’m looking forward to being a part of something bigger than myself. The ripple effect influence of AgriLife is amazing and it is an honor to be here.”
Clawson also noted Callahan will work with a strong Extension staff and program in Swisher County.
“Her time there will benefit Kendra tremendously as she starts her career in Extension education,” Clawson said.
