AgriLife Extension in Bexar County to offer Private Applicator Training

The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in Bexar County will present a Private Applicator Training from 8:30 a.m.-noon Nov. 1 at its offices in San Antonio.

The training will be held in Suite 208 of the Conroy Square office complex, 3355 Cherry Ridge Drive.

“This training is for people who do not have a Texas Department of Agriculture license to apply restricted-use pesticides on their property or those who had a license that expired at least a year ago,” said Sam Womble, AgriLife Extension agriculture and natural resources agent, Bexar County. “Study materials are available at the AgriLife Extension office for Bexar County and can be picked up in advance.”

Cost is $50 per person, which includes training and study materials. Make checks or money orders payable to Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service. There will be additional fees associated with applying for a license and online testing.

The license cannot be used for commercial, government or for-hire applicators.

“When you pass the examination, you can submit for a Private Applicator License to be used on agricultural lands,” Womble said. “To maintain your license and keep it current, you will need to earn 15 Texas Department of Agriculture continuing education units within a five-year period. If you are not able to earn these within that five-year period, your license will not be renewed.”

Participants should bring a calculator and photo identification.
