The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service office in Gillespie County has announced the schedule for its 2020 Grow It Cook It series.

“Grow It Cook It programs teach attendees how to grow different vegetables and provide selected recipes in which they can be used,” said Beth McMahon, AgriLife Extension horticulture agent for Gillespie County.

All programs will be from noon to 1 p.m. at the AgriLife Extension office, located at 95 Frederick Road, Fredericksburg.

“Many people are tired of eating the same recipes made using the same vegetables they have been growing in their garden,” McMahon said. “They’d like to try growing something new, but don’t know where to start or how to use different vegetables in their recipes. This series is designed to help people not only learn how to grow these vegetables but also how to prepare and cook them.”

Program participants learn not just how to grow and cook a “theme” vegetable at each program, but also receive vegetable transplants when available.

Dates and vegetable themes include:

— Feb. 14, Caring Cabbage.

— April 17, Zany Zucchini.

— Aug. 28, Cool Carrots.

Individual programs are $15 each, but participants may sign up for all three programs for $25.

Credit cards will not be accepted, and checks should be made out to Gillespie County ANR Committee. Preregistration is preferred, but attendees may also register at the door.
