“We are excited to welcome Kelli to our District 3 family,” said Dale Dunlap, AgriLife Extension district administrator, Vernon. “While in Hood County, she provided leadership and effective educational programs for adults and youth. She brings a wealth of experience that I know will benefit the residents in Haskell County.”

Brown grew up in Stonewall County and was an active member in Stonewall County 4-H. She earned a master’s degree in hospitality and retail management and a bachelor’s degree in family and consumer sciences education, both from Texas Tech University.

She was an agent in Hood County for almost four years. While there, a few of the highlighted adult programs Brown implemented include Walk Across Texas, Cooking Well with Friends, Central Texas Child Care Conference and Dinner Tonight. She also highlighted youth programs such as County 4-H Food Camp, 4-H Food Challenge and 4-H Food and Nutrition Workshops.

Brown said this is an opportunity for her family to return to the area where she was raised and taught her work ethic and values.

“I am so appreciative to walk into a program built by my predecessors, Darlene Hopkins most recently but also Jane Rowan and Lou Gilly,” she said. “They really created the momentum and the reputation for the family and community health program. I look forward to carrying on that legacy for Haskell County.”

Brown said as a family and consumer sciences professional, “I embrace the importance of having dinner on the table to enjoy with my husband each night. It may not always be homemade or freshly cooked, but we usually sit down together. I hope to be able to implement the importance of this by bringing Cooking Well with Friends to Haskell County. I have many different programs that I aspire to bring; but this one just happens to be one of my favorites.”

Brown has been recognized with state and national awards from the Extension Association of Family and Consumer Sciences in early childhood care training, communications internet education technology and social media online. Also, she received the Superior Service Award as a member of the Central Texas Child Care Conference.
