Nature Challenge encourages Texans to spend time outdoors
Texas A&M Forest Service, Texas Children in Nature Network, Texan by Nature partner to launch interactive website
A new Nature Challenge website connects Texans with engaging, creative ways to explore the outdoors, learn new skills and get involved in their community.
This statewide tool is a result of a shared vision between Texas Children in Nature Network, Texan by Nature and the Texas A&M Forest Service.
Web-based portal for nature exploration
The Nature Challenge desktop website encourages Texans to explore nature near and far by completing challenges and earning digital badges, allowing users to track their progress in a Challenge Progress Report.
“Oftentimes, the hardest part about getting out into nature and improving the environment is simply knowing where to start,” said Jacey Tosh, Texas A&M Forest Service conservation and education coordinator. “Nature Challenge makes it easier than ever by connecting Texans with opportunities to learn new skills, have some fun and make a difference at the same time.”
Searchable tools to connect to a variety of activities
The website features an interactive map and directories for users of all ages to find exciting challenges featuring place-based adventures at various locations, thematic challenges that can be done anywhere and activity challenges that can be completed at home.
“The Nature Challenge provides the perfect opportunity for every Texan to have fun and learn something new while enjoying the physical, mental and emotional benefits of being in nature,” said Joni Carswell, chief executive officer and president of Texan by Nature.
Creative learning experiences from a network of providers
This digital dashboard represents a community for all things outdoors and a location where nature-related organizations can come together and easily promote their services, opportunities and activities – and it’s free to use.
Organizations and institutions committed to providing high-quality environmental education and increased nature access can participate by submitting challenges online at Nature Challenge Submission.
