The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will host the Kimble County Invitational judging event for youth on April 14 in Junction.

The event will be held from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. at the Stephenson Community Center, 637 Airport Road. There is no cost to register for any of the contests.

Invitational details

The invitational judging event will feature grass identification and rangeland contests during the morning followed by wool and mohair contests during the afternoon.

Registration for the grass identification and range judging contests will be at 8 a.m., and the wool and mohair registration will begin at 1:15 p.m. There will be an orientation session before each contest.

Alex Lopez, AgriLife Extension agriculture and natural resources agent in Kimble County, said contestants will be judged on how well they identify and evaluate the plants and range characteristics presented during the contest.  as well as the quality of wool and mohair fleeces.

Award presentations will be made at 5 p.m.
