Food manager certification trainings to be April 22, April 29 in Waco
Courses focus on food safety, operation management
The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and the McLennan County Continuing Education Department will host a two-day food manager certification training program in April in Waco.
The training will be offered from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on April 22 and April 29 at the AgriLife Extension office in McLennan County, 4224 Cobbs Drive. The cost to attend is $125, and space is limited with pre-registration due on April 12.
To register, contact Rachel Esquivel, AgriLife Extension family and community health agent in McLennan County, at 254-757-5180. Participants must bring a photo identification to be able to take the exam.
The registration cost includes the training, course materials and the national food manager certification examination. The certifications will be valid anywhere in the state of Texas for five years.
Training prepares participants for exam
The Texas Department of State Health Services requires each food establishment to have at least one certified food manager employed. The “Food Safety: It’s Our Business” program prepares food service managers for the certification exam and provides valuable information regarding safe handling of food.
The course will help participants to understand the major causes of foodborne illnesses and how to prevent them, increase the food knowledge of employees and improve relationships with health officials.

- Hazard analysis control point.
