BRYAN — Cory Hundl has been chosen as the new Texas 4-H specialist for Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service’s District 9.
Hundl is based at the Texas A&M University Riverside campus in Bryan and will be responsible for leading the Texas 4-H Youth Development program for the district.
District 9, known as the Southeast District, is comprised of 18 counties: Brazoria, Brazos, Burleson, Chambers, Fort Bend, Galveston, Grimes, Harris, Hardin, Jefferson, Lee, Liberty, Madison, Montgomery, Orange, San Jacinto, Walker and Waller.
Hundl previously served for 12 years as the AgriLife Extension agent for 4-H youth development in Travis County, where she was responsible for the overall management of the Travis County 4-H Program. Her duties included planning, coordinating and organizing multiple county and district events, as well as developing partnerships with numerous community youth organizations.
“We are very excited to have Cory join the team as the 4-H specialist serving District 9,” said Dr. Chris Boleman, Texas 4-H Youth Development program director, College Station. “Cory brings a great deal of experience in working with urban audiences and is recognized across the agency as a leader in Texas 4-H. Her expertise in positive youth development, youth leadership, and volunteer empowerment is what makes her a perfect fit for this position.”
Before joining AgriLife Extension, she worked with Louisiana Cooperative Extension at the Louisiana State University AgCenter as an assistant Extension agent for 4-H and youth development. There she was responsible for the overall management of the Claiborne Parish 4-H Program in addition to agriculture and natural resources programs and activities for youth and adults.
Hundl has a master’s degree in education and bachelor’s degree in agricultural development from Texas A&M in College Station. She also has certification in national incident management safety.
During her career, Hundl has been involved in numerous national, state, regional, district and county 4-H activities and has served on multiple internal and external committees.
She was a longtime member of the National Association of Extension 4-H Agents and is currently a member of the Texas 4-H Friends and Alumni association and District 10 4-H Agents Association, for which she has served as director and treasurer. She is also a member of the Epsilon Sigma Phi academic association.
Her awards and recognition include a Superior Service Award from AgriLife Extension and several Texas Association of Extension 4-H Agents awards for communications and excellence in education. She has also received the 4-H Opportunities for Youth Award and Salute to Excellence – Meritorious Service Award from Texas 4-H.
“I’m excited about the opportunity to move to a new district and learn about the programs and opportunities offered,” Hundl said. “I look forward to working with the AgriLife Extension agents, 4-H youth and families in District 9 to provide positive youth development experiences and help develop great future leaders.”
