The announcement was made by Brown County Judge E. Ray West, III, and Marty Gibbs, AgriLife Extension district administrator in San Angelo.

“We are very pleased to have Courtney join us here in the West Central District,” Gibbs said. “She has a proven track record within our agency as she is transferring from a similar post in Dawson County. Brown County is a progressive area with a very diversified clientele, and Courtney is well-suited to continue on with the already strong AgriLife Extension legacy the county enjoys.”

Levens is currently completing studies on a master’s degree in agriculture from Texas A&M University at Kingsville. She earned a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies from Angelo State University at San Angelo.

Before joining AgriLife Extension in 2013, Levens taught high school mathematics for the Lamesa, Sweetwater and San Angelo independent school districts. She also taught at a disciplinary alternative campus, which was part of the College Station Independent School District.

Levens is a member of the national and Texas Extension Association of Family and Consumer Science, the national and Texas Association for Extension 4-H Agents, and Epsilon Sigma Phi.

Her AgriLife Extension awards and recognitions include the Making A Difference Agent Award, Let’s Go – Let’s Grow, and Outstanding Leadership to Texas 4-H.

Levens fills the position formerly held by Kim Miles who transferred to Jones County.
