Pittman joins Better Living for Texans as project coordinator

SAN ANGELO — Adrien Pittman has joined the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service as the Better Living for Texans, or BLT, project coordinator in Tom Green County. 

Pittman most recently worked for the Midland Independent School District teaching history and special education. She previously served the district as a substitute teacher. Pittman earned her bachelor’s degree in communications and psychology from Angelo State University. 

“Adrien’s energy and passion about the community is contagious,”  said Barbara Brown, BLT regional project specialist, San Angelo. “She is a welcome addition to our team.”

BLT is a nutrition education program for adults and children who are Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, eligible. The BLT program aims to help people make healthy food choices while saving money at the grocery store. It also seeks to help participants improve their physical fitness. Food safety and how to grow your own food are among the instructional classes BLT offers.

“I am very excited to step into the role,” said Pittman. “I consider San Angelo my home and care deeply about our community. 

She said the BLT program of AgriLife Extension provides a great opportunity to serve others through education, outreach and networking. 

“I love that I‘ll get to work with a diverse group of people from all ages and backgrounds,” Pittman said. “In my role, I hope to demonstrate to others that cooking, physical activity and living a healthy lifestyle is attainable and fun.”
