Brittany Chesser, AgriLife Extension aquatic vegetation management program specialist and lead diagnostic scientist at AgriLife Extension’s Aquatic Diagnostics Laboratory, Bryan-College Station, will be the featured speaker.

Webinar topics covered

Chesser said the webinar will cover various topics essential for effective aquatic vegetation control. This includes the underlying factors, such as environmental conditions, which lead to pond vegetation issues.

Additional focus will be placed on:

  • The identification of commonly found nuisance vegetation species.
  • An in-depth overview of management practices, including mechanical and physical removal, chemical control options, and the use of biological agents like grass carp.
  • Guidance on selecting the most appropriate management approach based on specific pond goals.
  • Strategies for integrating management methods to achieve long-term success.

“Ultimately, I hope participants will be able to understand the root causes of vegetation issues and confidently choose and apply management strategies to ensure their pond remains functional and enjoyable,” Chesser said.
