Climate-Smart Cotton Field Day set for Sept. 18 in Plainview
Event to feature tours of three innovation farms, regenerative agriculture focus group
The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will hold a Climate-Smart Cotton Field Day on Sept. 18 in Plainview.
The free event will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Quarterway Cotton Growers, 1380 U.S. Highway 70 B. Online registration is available at https://tx.ag/ClimateSmartCotton. Breakfast and lunch will be provided for tour participants.
About the program
During the workshop attendees will tour three innovation farms featuring cover crops, nitrogen fertilizer management and crop rotations. Representatives from the farms will discuss how they are making these innovative strategies work for them.
Following lunch there will be a focus group on regenerative agriculture. Attendees can also bring in a soil sample to be tested for soil health indicators important for carbon cycling and sequestration potential.
Continuing education credits available
Attendees will receive three general Texas Department of Agriculture continuing education units.
