The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will host a continuing education workshop at the Wichita Falls Ranch and Farm Expo in Wichita Falls on March 8.

The event will be from 8:45 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at the J.S. Bridwell Ag Center, 111 N. Burnett St., with registration from 7:30-8:45 a.m. Registration is $20 at the door.

A total of five Texas Department of Agriculture continuing education units are available for those needing to renew their pesticide applicator licenses, including one laws and regulations, two general and two integrated pest management.

Participants are required to bring their TDA licenses and must attend all sessions to receive credit.

On the agenda 

The workshop will feature the following topics and speakers:

  • Update of current laws and regulations – Henry Kruesekopf, TDA assistant regional director, Giddings.
  • Aquatic vegetation management – Brittany Chesser, AgriLife Extension aquatic vegetation management program specialist and lead diagnostic scientist at AgriLife Extension Aquatic Diagnostics Laboratory, Bryan-College Station.
  • Range and pasture management – Billy Campell, Envu regional representative, Idalou.
  • Management of external parasites on beef cattle – Sonja Swiger, Ph.D., AgriLife Extension entomologist and professor in the Department of Entomology, Stephenville.
  • Predator management – Justin Hansard, AgriLife Extension agriculture and natural resources agent in Montague County.
