The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service’s O.D. Butler Forage Field Day is slated for May 16 in Anderson.

The event, hosted by the AgriLife Extension offices in Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Madison, Milam, Montgomery, Robertson, Walker, Waller and Washington counties, will be held at a new location this year, the Thomas Ranch, 10365 Summer Lane.

The cost is $40, which includes lunch, and preregistration with payment is required at https://tx.ag/ODButlerFieldDay. The deadline to register is May 12. To register and pay by check, contact the AgriLife Extension office in Brazos County at 979-823-0129.

Three Texas Department of Agriculture continuing education units will be available — one laws and regulations and two general — for private pesticide applicator license holders. 

Morning field tour and topics

There will be three stops on the morning tour for participants to view, with each stop lasting about 45 minutes. 

Tour stops will be:

  • Herbicide-coated fertilizer.
  • Sprayer calibration.
  • Drone herbicide application demonstration.

The morning session will conclude with a beef cattle sales presentation, and vendor presentations will follow lunch.

Afternoon sessions

  • Laws and regulations updates.
  • Beef cattle market update.
