Ranchers Leasing Workshop set for April 24 in San Angelo
Event focuses on grazing, hunting and livestock leases
The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will host a leasing workshop for ranchers on April 24 in San Angelo.
The half-day workshop will be held from 9 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at the Texas A&M AgriLife Research and Extension Center at San Angelo, 7887 N. U.S. Highway 87. Registration cost is $50, and participants can register by visiting https://tx.ag/SanAngeloRLW.
There will be four Texas Real Estate Commission continuing education hours available to real estate agents upon completion of the workshop. A lunch will be provided, and participants will be able to receive a copy of the Rancher’s Agricultural Leasing Handbook and event presentations.
Workshop topics
The sessions are designed for agricultural landowners and tenants who are leasing or are interested in leasing agricultural land.
The courses will be taught by Tiffany Lashmet, J.D., AgriLife Extension agricultural law specialist and associate professor in the Texas A&M Department of Agricultural Economics, Amarillo, and Greg Kaase, Ph.D., AgriLife Extension senior program specialist in the Department of Agricultural Economics, Bryan-College Station.
The topics will focus on grazing, hunting and livestock leases, which include the basics of written agricultural lease agreements, lease arrangements and payment structures, and resources for setting a lease rate.
There also will be a session on pasture, range and forage insurance and the importance of liability coverage and insurance for agricultural leases.
