Sportfish management in ponds subject of March 18 webinar
AgriLife Extension program to cover strategies, common issues and solutions
The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will host a March 18 webinar on sportfish management strategies to improve pond fisheries.

Management strategies for multiple fish species
Todd Sink, Ph.D., AgriLife Extension aquaculture specialist and associate professor in the Texas A&M Department of Rangeland, Wildlife and Fisheries Management, will be the featured speaker. Sink is also the director of the AgriLife Extension Aquatic Diagnostics Laboratory in Bryan-College Station.
Key webinar topics will include:
- How to manage the pond food chain.
- Requirements for growing abundant or large fish.
- Fertilization programs.
- Available fish feeds and proper feeding techniques.
- Maximum fish production strategies.
- Management strategies for trophy bass, bluegill/sunfish and catfish.
“Attendees will learn about common problems found within a pond’s food chain and how to determine if their pond is suffering from stunted fish,” Sink said. “We will conclude the presentation with examples of structures and fish attractors that can be added to a water body to improve fishing.”
