The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will host a Texas Beef Quality Assurance training on Aug. 27 in Corsicana.

Hosted by the AgriLife Extension offices in Navarro, Ellis, Freestone and Henderson counties, the training will be held from 10:30 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Navarro County Expo Center, 4021 W. State Highway 22.

There is no cost to register, but registration is required. To register, contact the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association at 800-242-7820 or email [email protected]. Lunch will be provided.

The training is a joint effort between AgriLife Extension, the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association and the Texas Beef Council and is geared toward those working in the beef industry.

Course topics

The training will be taught by Jason Banta, Ph.D., AgriLife Extension beef cattle specialist and professor in the Department of Animal Science, Overton. Producers will learn the best management practices to ensure their cattle and beef are high quality and are produced in a safe and wholesome environment.   

Topics will include:

  • Food safety.
  • Cattle and beef quality.
  • Vaccine handling.
  • Environmental stewardship.
  • Cattle handling and well-being.
  • Residue avoidance.
