About the program

Wisdom, Power, Control is an educational program for African American and multi-ethnic individuals with Type 2 diabetes. The four-week program will explore a new topic each week aimed at diabetes self-management to help individuals learn to live healthy, control their diabetes and be empowered.

The program has been found to be effective in improving hemoglobin A1c levels, a measure of blood glucose control, over three months, as well as diabetes self-care, self-confidence and overall diabetes knowledge.

The class will be led by Rachel Esquivel, AgriLife Extension family and community health agent for McLennan County.
