Reducing hypertension through DASH method

The program promotes the Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension, or DASH, approach to healthy eating. The DASH approach focuses on limiting such foods as sodium and saturated fats and incorporating foods to help lower blood pressure, such as lean meats, fruits and vegetables.

Taught by Esquivel, the sessions will be lively and informative and presented in a casual, social atmosphere. Each session will also include information sharing, goal setting and practical tips to reduce blood pressure.

Program session titles

The program session titles include:

  • Make a date with DASH.
  • Be DASHing with vegetables and fruits.
  • Making a DASH to shake a salty habit.
  • DASHing with dairy.

There also will be an optional lesson called “Uncovering Added Sugars” for those interested in learning how to find and avoid added sugars in foods.
