The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will present its Step Up Scale Down program for weight loss from Sept. 1-Nov. 10.

The program is a collaborative effort of AgriLife Extension offices in Travis, Hays, Caldwell and Bexar counties. The sessions over 12 weeks provide nutrition tips in addition to advice on exercise and healthy eating.

The program includes six in-person sessions from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at the AgriLife Extension office in Travis County, 1600-B Smith Road in Austin. There are also six sessions participants can take at their own pace from home. Sessions at agency offices will be Sept. 1, Sept. 15, Sept. 29, Oct. 13, Oct. 17 and Nov. 10.

“This is a researched-based program that has proven successful in helping people with weight management as well as building healthy lifestyle habits,” said Sonia Coyle, AgriLife Extension family and community health agent, Travis County.

— Scale Down by Setting Goals.
— Step Up to a Healthy Plate.
— Scale Down by Label Reading.
— Step Up to Breakfast and Menu Planning.
— Scale Down with Moves to Lose.
— Step Up Your Hydration.
— Scale Down by Finding Your Motivational Mojo.
— Step Up to Healthy Snacking.
— Scale Down with a Colorful Plate.
— Step Up to Successful Socializing.
— Scale Down by Knowing Your Numbers.
— Step Up and Celebrate.

The cost is $40 if registered by Aug. 30 and $50 if registered from Sept. 1-21.

All participants receive a binder with handouts and two cookbooks to assist in achieving their weight goal. Incentives will be provided for attending five of the six in-person sessions, and those who achieve their goal weight will receive a $10 gift card.
