The free, public meeting will be from 1-3 p.m. at the Braden Keller Community Center, 1410 Amelia St.

This meeting will begin covering the final components of the plan to address water quality impairments in the watershed. Speakers will also discuss new and ongoing programs about land management and conservation in the watershed.

“We’re excited to hear from these program representatives about how our projects can work together to restore and protect water resources,” said Tina Hendon, TWRI program specialist. “Many areas in the watershed are experiencing rapid growth, but there are still many opportunities to conserve and manage working lands and open spaces.”

Seeking watershed plan input

Hendon said the meeting will allow stakeholders to provide input on the final parts of the plan and discuss how it will be implemented.

“Stakeholders have been and will continue to be the foundation of these watershed planning efforts,” she said. “We’re encouraging citizens of the region to continue to attend these meetings, engage with existing programs and to forge new partnerships for the future.”

The institute is coordinating this project with the San Antonio River Authority, to collaborate with local stakeholders to develop a plan to address water quality issues. Funding for this effort is provided through a federal Clean Water Act Section 319(h) grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, administered by the Texas State Soil and Water Conservation Board

TWRI is a unit of Texas A&M AgriLife Research that brings together expertise from across The Texas A&M University System
