Dec. 5 webinar to cover top agricultural laws of 2024
New regulations, court decisions to be discussed
The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will present the “Top 10 Ag Laws” webinar Dec. 5 from noon to 1 p.m.
The webinar is part of the ongoing Stewardship Series hosted within the Texas A&M College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Department of Rangeland, Wildlife and Fisheries Management.
Cost is $35, and advance registration is required at https://tx.ag/AgLaw. The webinar offers one Texas Department of Agriculture laws and regulations continuing education unit for pesticide applicators in Texas.
After payment is received, an email will be sent with instructions on how to access the webinar.
A busy year for agricultural law
The featured speaker will be Tiffany Lashmet, J.D., AgriLife Extension agricultural law specialist and professor in the Department of Agricultural Economics, Amarillo.
“This year has been a busy year for agricultural law across the country,” Lashmet said. “We would like webinar participants to leave with an understanding of some of the major legal issues this year and how they will impact landowners and agricultural producers.”
The webinar will focus on issues including new regulations, court decisions and lawsuits.
Examples include the federal court ruling on dicamba herbicides, electronic identification tag requirements for the interstate movement of some cattle and bison, a critical water law case in Texas, and more.
“There are also a number of agriculture-based court cases that remain pending, and we would like for participants to have a better understanding of those issues as well as what to watch for in 2025,” Lashmet said.
